Legal Australia-Wide Survey: Legal need in Australia
The Legal Australia-Wide Survey (LAW Survey) provides the first comprehensive quantitative assessment across Australia of an extensive range of legal needs on a representative sample of the population. It examines the nature of legal problems, the pathways to their resolution, and the demographic groups that struggle with the weight of their legal problems.
8. Outcome of legal problems
As noted earlier, of the 19 388 legal problems followed up in depth in the Australian sample, 12 327 were finalised at the time of interview.(1)
This chapter examines the respondents’ satisfaction with the outcomes of these finalised problems, whether favourable outcomes were achieved, and the problem and demographic characteristics associated with achieving favourable outcomes.
1. As a result of rounding weighted data, some numbers and percentages in the report do not sum precisely to totals.
