  • Twenty-five per cent of inquiries to the Chamber Magistrate Service were about domestic or personal violence.
  • A further 19 per cent were about issues regarding Family Law.
  • The majority of inquiries were classified as other (56%).
  • Based on the chi-square examining broad area of law by year, the proportion of inquiries concerning domestic or personal violence and family law increased between 1999 and 2001, with a corresponding decrease in the proportion of inquiries classified as other.
