Established in 1991 as a joint State Library and Law and Justice Foundation initiative, the Legal Information Access Centre is a state-wide service providing free access to legal information for the community. It is based in the State Library in Sydney and operates through the public library network across NSW. The Centre of Excellence Awards recognise innovative and creative projects which increase the awareness and use of the LIAC service within the community. The Award recipients each receive $500 towards their library's legal information collection.
